The thinking
Freelancers don't lose money on their rates — they lose it on friction: chasing invoices, eating fees, juggling tools. Modolla's bet is a free, frictionless product with a brand voice to match — “Get paid. Keep moving.” The strategy: make a fintech feel less like accounting software and more like a confident teammate in your pocket.
How it's built — one system, two surfaces
The decision worth noting: a single Crystal design system drives both the cross-platform Flutter app and the Next.js marketing site, so the brand is identical from first ad impression to in-app payment. Payments run on one Stripe account (Checkout + Payment Links), decoupling money movement from the stack — app or site transact through the same rails, no separate commerce backend.
